SASKATCHEWAN PEST CONTROL OFFICER'S ASSOCIATION (SPCOA)

Background: The Saskatchewan Pest Control Officer's Association (SPCOA) was organized on November 22, 1991 at Moose Jaw. The organization is a positive step in organizing all PCOs to ensure the PCO's become more effective in their local areas. The Saskatchewan Pest Control Officer's Association sponsors annual PCO Training Seminars held throughout the province.

Their mandate includes:

  • uniformity and improved effectiveness in Saskatchewan rat control program;
  • a forum for Pest Control Officers (PCOs) to interact, share ideas and discuss issues of mutual concern;
  • develop unified positions and policy on issues consistent with the efficient operation and delivery of the rat control program;
  • present a unified voice for positions and policy issues related to pest control, and;
  • improve public relations regarding the control of rats.

The organization's long term objective is to declare Saskatchewan "Rat Free". With the development of the Pest Control Officer'sAssociation representatives (six) were selected for each region. If no service in a District is provided, the PCO Officer's Association will get a person into that area to address the lack of coverage. Trips into another district are not limited to elevators but also include dumps and other problem areas as well.
